Thank you so much for your commitment to give to RADIATE His Life. The total in gifts and faith promise commitments stands at $105,000 so far. Your gifts are an aroma to the Lord and a balm to the orphans and students who will be reached as a result.

Many of you wanted to give at the conference but were unable to do so because you did not have your checkbook. Others of you have made a faith promise commitment and want to know how you go about fulfilling your commitment. This e-mail will explain the ways you can give in the future.

There are three ways to give:

Mail in Your Gift
Send your check payable to “Campus Crusade for Christ”

Campus Crusade for Christ
c/o RADIATE His Life
PO Box 117
Exton, PA 19341.

Give online using Credit, Debit, or checking account
Go to https://give.ccci.org/give/View/2574588?MotivCode=CCWBCP and make a gift using your debit card, credit card, or checking account. You can set up one-time or recurring gifts.

Write a Check Each Month
For those who would like to write a check each month, send your first gift to the address in the “Mail in Your Gift” section. Then in a few weeks, you will receive a receipt and an envelope along with a tear-off portion. Use the envelope to mail your next gift along with the tear-off portion that indicates how you’d like your gift to be used. Each time you send a gift, you will receive a new envelope.

Sincerely,
Eric Fleshood

Although we may be tempted to think theology is just for men, we all need to know God and who He is. The community college is one of the most unreached, unsustainable places to minister with such great transience. Yet, it stands as a very strategic place to reach students from the community and around the world. How will God use the community college where you are for His great mission of redemption? Hear about some missional misses, successes, and helpful strategies for you to take back to your campus as you trust God for a sustainable impact.

Something you don’t need to act out but a palpable source of energy and life flowing from the heart? Jesus clearly taught that there was when he said, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.” John goes on to tell us, “By this he meant the Spirit” (John 7:37-39). In this interactive seminar you will learn about 25 authors who might be “mentors” to you, as well as guides to your spiritually curious friends. Dave, a Faculty Commons staff member, has been ministering to professors and skeptics for 20 years at schools like UPenn, VA Tech, West Chester and JMU. Most of the authors he will introduce you to are still alive (sorry, no poets). He has personally corresponded or traveled with many of them, as well as hosting some as speakers on campus. A self-described “perpetual student,” Dave will introduce you to reliable guides for exploring some of life’s big questions – both yours and the friends and family you pray for.

Our hearts tend to chase after idolatrous saviors other than the one true savior. In our financial lives, this is especially evident in the area of debt. We embrace debt to find financial relief, when instead we should embrace Christ. <itunes:summary>Our hearts tend to chase after idolatrous saviors other than the one true savior. In our financial lives, this is especially evident in the area of debt. We embrace debt to find financial relief, when instead we should embrace Christ. However, unlike Christ, whose salvation is sure and yolk is light, debt often leaves us more insecure, burdened, and unable to serve Him. All the life boats including financial security and debt, have holes except One. Christ is the answer. If you're in debt or want to avoid taking on water in your financial boat, listen to this discussion of how to trade in your sinking ship for safety aboard our sovereign Savior's ship.</itunes:summary>

How does understanding the truth about heaven make a difference in how we live today? When we see Jesus, what will we experience? Is your heart captured with thoughts of eternal glory or distracted by the glitter of earthly possessions? Heaven is meant to be the believer’s ultimate hope, but often our hope is in this world. We can know much more about Heaven than we have been taught, and Heaven itself will be absolutely incredible.

I’m currently in the process of getting together all the last minute details for RADIATE09. Practicing parodies, writing in filler humor, composing interview questions for our celebrity guests…you know, stuff like that. I’m really excited for the conference this year and am eagerly anticipating what God will do when we all get there. If you haven’t signed up yet, there’s still plenty of room, and walk-ins are totally welcome.

Until then, though, have a great Christmas, do well in your fantasy football leagues, and don’t over eat too much before the 28th comes–I want you healthy for the big day the conference starts.

Later, kids. See you in 1.5 weeks.

Yep, that makes a grand total of 3 parody songs that I’ll be singing at RADIATE09 this year. I like the choices I made this time…my hope is that you have a more enjoyable experience at the conference because of them. That being said, if you don’t enjoy them, please pretend that you do because I’m a very sensitive individual with fragile feelings.

It’s taken a little longer than I anticipated, but schedules were finally worked out and aligned with all parties involved to get some things rolling on the recording of a few parodies with the Bridge Band for RADIATE09 promotion.

I’ll be heading into the studio with the boys next Thursday to “lay down a few tracks” in the hopes that RADIATE will receive the right kind of promotion and praise, and therefore spark more interest in the magnificent event that will make you continually hold on to your socks for fear that they may be knocked off.

The songs I parody will no doubt be familiar to you, but there will be a distinct difference in my approach than in years previous. That’s all I’m going to be giving away for now. You’ll just have to wait and see what we come up with to have a bigger helping of RADIATE deliciousness. More to come, I promise.

There’s a new invention out there called “The Personal Home Computer” that, believe it or not, is sweeping the east coast. A lot of people have these “computers” now and it’s probably because it connects to this invisible world called “The Internet” via some magical mystery. Contained within this invisible mystery is a universe called “Twitter”.

Twitter gives you to opportunity to spy on people even though they are completely aware that you are spying on them. I know it seems a bit strange, and to some of you, this comes as quite a shock, but it’s not all bad. Twitter gives you an opportunity to keep up with the latest goings-on with certain events and happenings in people’s lives.

RADIATE has decided to participate in the voluntary voyeuristic experience and you can keep up with all the newest news at twitter.com/RADIATE09.

Also, feel free to follow me (on the internet, not in real life) at http://twitter.com/shelbyabbott

I’m sure you’ll enjoy all the updates on random and mildly important events in my life too.

Hugs,
Shelby

I spent the weekend in Baltimore for the annual Sneak Peek weekend. Sneak Peek is an all-frills trip for students that want to be a part of the promotion and recruitment for RADIATE09.

The students got an early look at the amazing new hotel we’ll be in come December, free food, free shirts, free water bottles, free cds and much more. It was a great time with everyone there from the Mid-Atlantic and the hope is that RADIATE will continue to see growth as we travel to a new and better destination this winter.

Above is the view from my room out to the inner harbor…and I was only on the 7th floor. The hotel has 23 floors. Use your imagination to picture what that view would be. No, wait. Don’t use your imagination!; just look around our newly launched website!
